September 2020 News Updates
"None of us including me, ever do great things. But we can all do small things, with great love and TOGETHER we can do something wonderful" says Saint Mother Teresa.
Jhep Foundation believes in joining hands with like-minded partners. In the month of September, Jhep Trustees visited the village of Pasali, which is located about 80 KM from Pune, MH. Despite its proximity to Pune, Pasali is underdeveloped due to multiple geographical, logistical and other reasons. We visited Paoolwat Foundation which is working tirelessly for the upliftment of Pasali and the surrounding village residents. To further our common goals of economic empowerment of rural and tribal women, Jhep and Paoolwat have joined hands to undertake various skill development projects. We will jointly develop a master plan over the next few months to a year that will focus on the steps to offer a sustainable life to the village dwellers and to reduce the forced migration to urban areas.
Check out the attached flyer of our first joint project with Paoolwat of handcrafted, sustainable, Bamboo lampshades and Akash Kandeels to light your homes and work places during this Diwali season!
In October, Jhep Foundation plans to offer a skill development workshop of jewelry making in Bavdhan area of Pune city. This will help women who work as domestic help to earn supplementary income by putting in a few hours a day at their homes. The groundwork for this training program is completed with the help of local Project coordinators and Advisors of Jhep Foundation.
In September, Jhep Foundation initiated a novel concept under its educational initiative. We have arranged lectures on the life of Mahatma Gandhi for the students of Mahatma Gandhi school in Yerawada, Pune. Veteran Gandhians from the society have come forward to deliver lectures and interact with the students online. Our goal is to extend such weekly lectures to other primary and middle schools as well.
In continuation of our efforts toward COVID food drive, Jhep donated groceries to provide approximately 5,000 meals to the underprivileged families trough Bharat Ekta Sanghatana which works in Kondhwa and Guruwar Peth areas of Pune, MH.
We look forward to your continued support and participation so we can collectively continue to create a positive impact on the most vulnerable populations of our society. Stay safe and well!
